Why is Chat GTP-4.0 so cooked?

Reader’s Note: ChatGPT itself has corrected this article. ;)

The Background — -

So, we don’t need any understanding of what ChatGPT is, do we? Alright, for beginners, it is a tool far more powerful than your average Google search, capable of generating desirable outcomes. It is a collection or warehouse of modular data processed based on your inputs. Imagine a network of data where one input has infinite possibilities of outcomes, like doing patchwork on a piece of fabric. When you turn the fabric around, you notice the hanging threads, each connected to another to form a pattern. This is how ChatGPT works: it generates patterns based on previous inputs, combining them to produce a result.

So mathematically, 1 input = ∞ possible outcomes.

My Investment — -

Growing up in India, I was fortunate to have access to a computer and the internet from a young age. This early exposure sparked my deep interest in technology. By fourth grade, I was exploring software like Excel, Photoshop, and CorelDRAW. My passion for sci-fi and technology only grew over time. When I read about the movie Dune (2021), its depiction of advanced technology and AI fascinated me, reminding me of tools like ChatGPT. Despite its capabilities, I recognize the limitations and ethical considerations of AI. The movie begins with the overthrow of AI, which was a threat to the human world. Isn’t it cliché that we are now developing AI ourselves, which could potentially be a boon to our destruction?

The war where AI was thrown out in the Dune universe was named:

Butlerian Jihad -“ Man may not be replaced.”

Even though AI was overthrown, they made use of:

A. Mentats: Human cognitive computers
B. Spacing Guild: Navigators used to navigate in space

Okay, I got a little carried away, but now you’ll ask how this is all related. For me, ChatGPT is like a modern-day Mentat, capable of performing extensive calculations rapidly, but it also raises ethical and practical concerns about the role of AI in our lives.

Getting Back to the Topic — -

For me, ChatGPT version 4.0 is cooked because…

  1. The Hype: Since Apple Inc. announced its partnership and integration of ChatGPT 4.0 with Siri, I’ve been following the developments. ChatGPT 4.0 enables interactive conversations with an AI bot, which is both amazing and concerning. For instance, a person with social anxiety might rely on a bot for mental well-being, reducing human interaction. Although this invention is remarkable, it lacks the emotional sensitivity humans need in the 21st century. The excitement is understandable, but it’s still inadequate for human needs.
  2. Limitations: Now, when I do a random Google search, I find people’s opinions on a topic, what they think, how they feel about certain things, and their reactions. The feeling of reading this context is so comforting, even if it’s not always positive. It’s still far better than reading something AI-generated. The limitation is that even though AI can produce infinite results, the outcome can still be a pile of waste at the end of the day.
  3. Comparing it to human intelligence: Read the quote below by Joanna Maciejewska: It is a false perception that AI bots can replace humans — they can’t. Take a simple painting by the greatest artist or a sculpture by a skilled sculptor. The observational nature of humans can never be compared to AI because, in the end, it’s just a system. It may have a neural network, but the essence of human creation is special. It carries a memory, like your child painting on a wall — something you’ll remember on your deathbed. AI-generated artwork, on the other hand, has no meaning to it. The essence of human interaction and creativity remains irreplaceable, highlighting the limitations of AI despite its advancements.

My concluding thoughts can be summed up with an infamous quote by Frank Herbert:

Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a Human mind — Orange Catholic Bible.

As always, Feel free to reach out if you have questions or want additional advice. I will keep writing further blog posts on various topics.

Good luck!
